It is almost seven hundred years since the Humans abandoned the Earth and its solar system colonies due to a planetary catastrophe. The Earth ships wandered through space until they were discovered by the Galactic Government: the most important economic and political community in the galaxy; made up of more than two hundred civilizations and ruling over millions of planets. Humans, who once gazed at the stars with longing, now try to survive in a universe very different from the one they had dreamed of.

It is in this era of difficulty when Vhan, a former Defense Corps space fighter pilot, now turned mercenary, meets Ges; an enigmatic woman fleeing from slave traders. The mercenary decides to help her, unaware that behind the slavers hides the Trade and Transport Federation, the most powerful civilization of the Galactic Government.
